Attack on Titan Ichiban Kuji H-Prize Daruma Mascot Figure (Blue)
A Traditional Lucky Charm Gets an Attack on Titan Makeover
This figure merges two distinctly Japanese things: the daruma doll, a centuries-old good-luck charm, and Ichiban Kuji, BANDAI SPIRITS’ prize lottery system. The result is a solid, non-poseable mascot figure of Eren Yeager — protagonist of Attack on Titan — rendered in the rounded, compact form of a daruma. The blue body is decorated with white-to-light-blue wave patterns, with black Japanese characters across the front. Facial features are sculpted in a chibi (super-deformed) style, with exaggerated brows, eyes, and mouth — a hallmark of how Ichiban Kuji daruma figures adapt character likenesses to the daruma’s inherently round silhouette. The piece was distributed as an H-Prize in one of the several Ichiban Kuji × Attack on Titan campaigns that BANDAI SPIRITS has run since 2014.
The daruma is modeled on Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, and has been a fixture of Japanese folk tradition for centuries. Its rounded form — weighted at the bottom so it rights itself when toppled — became a lasting symbol of perseverance. Anime merchandise makers began adapting that shape to character figures from the late 2010s onward, leaning into the daruma’s natural warmth and roundness to give familiar characters a fresh, playful format.
Attack on Titan and the Character Behind the Figure
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) is the manga by Hajime Isayama, serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from 2009 to 2021 across 139 chapters. The anime ran from 2013 through 2023 — WIT Studio for Seasons 1–3, MAPPA for the final season — and the series has surpassed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide, with a particularly strong following across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Eren Yeager is the central character: a young man driven by a fierce desire for freedom beyond the walls that confine his world. Over the course of the story he gains the powers of the Attack Titan and the Founding Titan, and his arc is among the most discussed in contemporary manga for its moral complexity. The blue body and wave motif on this figure may reference the celebrated scene late in Season 3 where Eren and his companions finally reach the sea — their first glimpse of the world beyond the walls. Whether the design is specifically tied to that moment or reflects a broader oceanic theme cannot be confirmed from the item’s title and appearance alone.
Ichiban Kuji: Japan’s Convenience-Store Prize Lottery
Ichiban Kuji is the prize lottery system run by BANDAI SPIRITS — the collectibles-focused division Bandai spun off in 2018. Tickets are sold at convenience stores such as Lawson, FamilyMart, and 7-Eleven, as well as hobby shops throughout Japan, at a fixed price per draw. Every ticket wins a prize; there are no losing draws. Prizes are ranked alphabetically from A (the top-tier item) downward, with each level representing a different item type and draw probability. H-Prize falls in the lower-middle range of that structure, which typically means a comparatively higher chance of being drawn than the premium upper tiers.
Because the lottery runs exclusively within Japan, Ichiban Kuji items never appear in overseas retail channels. Collectors outside Japan can only access them by drawing in person during a visit, or through local agents and resellers. For fans of Attack on Titan — a series that concluded in 2021 but continues to attract a dedicated worldwide collector community — officially licensed pieces in formats that never reached international shelves represent a direct connection to Japanese fan culture, and to the broader craft tradition the daruma form itself carries.
