A Capsule Toy Built Around a Single Iconic Scene

This figure set belongs to Japan’s gashapon tradition — the capsule toy machines installed in shopping malls, train stations, and game centers across the country. Manufactured by Kitan Club, a Tokyo-based maker recognized for pushing the format beyond simple single-character figures, the Tobatsu Scene Figure is an officially licensed Chiikawa product. It follows what is called a scene figure format: multiple characters fixed together on a round pink display base, arranged as a miniature diorama that recreates a specific moment from the source material. The whole thing is made from hard plastic and stands ready to display without any assembly.

Kitan Club is perhaps best known internationally for their “Cup no Fuchiko” series, in which tiny office workers perch on the rim of a glass. That kind of conceptual wit and careful craftsmanship carries through to their character-licensed work, and the Chiikawa line is no exception.

The World Behind the Characters

Chiikawa — the short name for “Nanka Chiisaku te Kawaii Yatsu,” roughly meaning “some small cute thing” — began in 2020 as a webcomic posted to X (then Twitter) by the artist and illustrator Nagano. The series spread rapidly, propelled by a tone that sets it apart from most cute-character franchises: the cast looks gentle and innocent, but the world they live in is genuinely difficult. One of the central activities in that world is tobatsu — monster-slaying work the characters take on to earn a living. They train, they struggle, and they do not always win. The gap between the soft visual style and the real stakes underneath gave the series an emotional depth that resonated widely.

A television anime began airing on TV Tokyo in 2022, with episodes also released on YouTube, and the franchise expanded quickly into merchandise, collaborations, and gallery exhibitions. By the mid-2020s, Chiikawa had developed devoted followings in Taiwan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, and English-language fan communities had formed around the name. Kitan Club’s capsule toy line for the franchise expanded alongside the anime, with the Tobatsu Scene Figure series emerging as part of that broader wave of official merchandise.

Who Is in the Scene

Three main characters surround the monster on the base. Chiikawa, the small white central figure of the series, is recognizable by the rosy markings on his cheeks; he is portrayed as emotional and easily moved to tears, but reliably brave when it matters. Hachiware — the character named in the listing title — is believed to be feline, and takes his name from the split black-and-white pattern across his head. In this scene he is posed holding blue claws, the weapon associated with him in combat. The third character, Usagi, is a large yellowish rabbit known for a boisterous, unpredictable energy that provides much of the series’ comedy.

The creature they are facing is a large white four-legged monster with green leaves along its back and spiral eyes. It is understood to be modeled on a daikon radish, a recurring tobatsu target in the original manga and one of the more recognizable images in the Chiikawa universe. For fans of the series, the specific combination of these three characters mid-fight against this particular monster carries distinct narrative weight — it is not a generic action pose, but a scene with a particular place in how readers and viewers have come to understand the world Nagano built.
